Supporting Documents for Board Decisions
Yesterday, we had our Show Hope Board Meeting – that’s right a meeting filled with budgets, policies and plans. Behind the pages of that cover in the picture to the left are some of the years budget plans, new policies and a few strategy items to discuss. These kinds of meetings are right up Steven’s ally! OK, maybe not but he does write good theme songs. Actually, his wife makes up for him (not to mention the other amazing board members) in this area, which is partly why God puts opposites together sometimes, ay.
Much of our board meetings are filled with reporting and rejoicing of what God has done, but as “caretakers of the public trust” we invest time checking the “vitals” of the ministry and planning for the year and beyond. In light of the Chapmans tragedy of over a year ago, planning sometimes seems so futile especially when we consider where it says in scripture to “not boast about tomorrow” – however, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be diligent about planning. We just have to be discerning and sensitive to God’s leading . As somewhat of a planner by nature, I remember clearly, in year 1 of Shaohannah’s Hope, God directed me to Proverbs 16:9 which says “A man makes a plan in his heart but God directs his path.” In the spiritual realm God knows our path and sometimes in the “board realm” we make plans to propel us closer to the exact path He wants us to be on.
One of the key victories in our meeting was not just the approved votes, but that we finished our meeting within the allotted time I set forth – with two minutes to spare!!!
