When Lucy entered into the care of Hope Foster Home in July 2007, she was very sick with a heavy cough and several severe sores on her body. After being admitted, she was also diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
After several months of battling sickness, Lucy began to gain weight and become more healthy. She was transferred into the care of Maria’s Big House of Hope when it opened earlier this year. Although Lucy will face health challenges throughout her life, she is a very happy 3-year old girl who is stable and doing well.
Of all the children at MBHOH with cerebral palsy, Lucy is one of the most flexible, mobile, and most developed. She can easily move around the room in a bouncer. The nurses work with her daily to help her physical and mental development.
Lucy is constantly smiling. She is extremely alert and aware of her surroundings, responding to both her name and simple commands. Though she can’t always participate with the other kids while they are playing, she rolls next to them and laughs along as they play.
We are excited to see how Lucy has truly begun to thrive thanks to the contributions of Show Hope sponsors and the care she receives at Maria’s Big House of Hope. We can’t wait to see how much further she comes in the coming months.
