When Emmanuel was admitted to Maria’s Big House of Hope on Christmas Eve of 2009, his outlook seemed bleak. At only four months old, he had already been diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease. Emmanuel arrived with five other babies; however, four of those babies were too weak and did not survive. Despite the fact that Emmanuel had quite a difficult time gaining weight and was in respiratory distress a few times during his first few months at MBHOH, he continued to fight. Jona, the nurse providing Emmanuel’s daily medical care, nicknamed him “the survivor.”

24By the time Emmanuel reached seven months old, he had grown healthier and stronger thanks to the care being lavished on him at MBHOH.  In March, he became strong enough to travel to Shanghai to receive his corrective heart surgery and recently returned back to Maria’s Big House of Hope to recover under the loving watch of his nannies and the excellent medical care given by the MBHOH nurses. As he recovers, he is becoming a much happier baby who loves to be held and cuddled.

Thanks to the support of many Show Hope sponsors, Emmanuel not only received the love and attention he so desperately needed, but also a life-saving, corrective heart surgery. We hope he will soon be eligible to be adopted…will you join us in praying for both his immediate need of continued healing as well as his long-term need of a forever family?
