Dr. Karyn Purvis

We had a wonderful time at the Empowered to Connect Conference in Dallas this weekend, and from the sound of it, so did the attendees! This was our biggest ETC conference to date, and we could not have done it without the help of an amazing team of Tapestry volunteers and Irving Bible Church staff! Thank you to everyone who attended, blogged, and tweeted (#ETC12) from the conference. Here are a few highlights from the social media world. We hope you will consider joining us in Denver for the next Empowered to Connect Conference in April!

Hear it…live it…hear it…live it. Yes, that’s me! I need spaced repetition of all this stuff! There is grace. #ETC12 – @CKrav

“Parents are the agents of change.” – Dr. Karyn Purvis #ETC12 – @Mrs_SBH

“If your kid came home from an orphanage they are a SURVIVOR. Praise God for their life & help them heal. — Karyn Purvis #ETC12” – @cleguin

If my child is out of control, I have to up my structure and up my nurture also. #ETC12 -@amievanslpci

Dr. Purvis teaching at Irving Bible ChurchJamie Ivey blogged about conference saying, “I have so much to share from this conference.  I’ll leave you with this.  I will find a way to say “YES” more than I say “no”.  I will find more ways to give my kids a voice, even if it means compromise.  I will not view compromise as a win for the kid and a loss for parent.  I will view it as a voice.  Every kid deserves a voice.  I will take my own sinful patterns and ask Jesus to stomp them out and help me walk through my past and see how I can change patterns and behaviors in my life to help me be a better parent.”
