We had two children by birth when we felt God telling us to move forward with adoption. We didn’t know if we were to adopt domestically or internationally, but we did know that God placed a desire in our hearts to adopt a child who had special needs.

“One night at church I was talking about adoption with a friend who was in the process of a domestic adoption. The very next morning, she sent us an email that her agency had sent out about a little boy in the Philippines who needed a forever family. His name was Moriah, he was 18 months old, and he was blind. That is where our journey to Moriah began.

“As we began the process of adopting Moriah, we soon found out that it was going to take a significant amount of money to do this. We really felt like the Lord was telling us to trust Him for what seemed a large feat to conquer. Someone suggested that we start looking at grants that were offered to help families in the process. We had heard a lot about Show Hope and started reading about the ministry. Mark filled out the application, and eventually we learned that we had been chosen as grant recipients!

The Armstrong Family“In Spring 2011, we traveled to bring Moriah home. What a blessing it is for our family to now have him with us! It has been a busy year as we adjusted to being a family of five. The challenges that come with raising Moriah are sometimes overwhelming, but we can say with confidence that we have been sustained, strengthened, and sanctified by God’s grace. The Lord has blessed us with a great network of support, and we live in a city that offers wonderful healthcare and programming for our son.

“We are so thankful for ministries like Show Hope that minister to orphans worldwide by assisting families in bringing them home. We are thankful for the many Show Hope sponsors whose generous financial gifts make this possible. We will always be able to tell Moriah of this sweet ministry, the people who support it, and the very important role they played in him being able to come into our family!

“Thank you, Show Hope, for your commitment to orphan care, and for the role you played in the adoption of our son.”
