Our Maria’s Big House of Hope preschoolers are onto something new…cooking class!
With fall arriving and temperatures dropping, we’ve taken to more creative indoor activities. Fridays have now become cooking days. The kids really look forward to this day, as we take them on a “field trip” from their usual preschool classroom to our 4th floor kitchen. They love getting their hands dirty and most of all, love that they get to EAT!
So far, we’ve made chocolate cake (with icing and sprinkles, of course), rice crispy treats, and Jell-O jigglers (these were a huge hit!). Our favorite week though was when Abby taught us to make apple bundles, to celebrate fall. We got to roll, stuff, taste, and most importantly make a mess with a lot of flour!
We’d love some ideas for more cooking classes! Please leave your favorite kid-friendly recipes in a comment below (please keep in mind that recipes with minimal ingredients are best, as many food items are not available to us in China).
