It took a great step of faith for us to venture out on our own adoption journey. We already had two biological children, Madison and Caroline, but we began to notice that our church is full of families who have chosen to adopt. As time went on, we recognized that the Lord had placed these families around us in order to prepare us to adopt our next child.
We began making calls, discussing, and praying about where the Lord was calling us to adopt from, and eventually we decided on a domestic adoption. We were very excited to begin the process! We rushed around having our fingerprints made and filling out forms, and then came the wait… Waiting was definitely the most challenging part of our adoption process.
The financial side of adoption was very scary to us, too. We asked around and researched ways to raise funds. We knew the Lord had to show up in a mighty way for us have the funds needed to bring our daughter home. It was a very humbling experience for us to ask people for money and for help, and this journey ultimately taught us that the Lord does amazing things through us when we allow Him to take control. Thus we planned a yard sale and began applying for grants and loans.
Our family would like to thank Show Hope sponsors and donors for coming along side us to provide a much-needed grant. Bringing our daughter, Amelia, home has wonderfully changed our lives. We immediately fell in love with her when we held her in our arms. It’s funny to see her unique personality come out more and more.
