Even before they were married, Alex and Riann Schell talked about building their family through adoption, with the qualifier of “when we can afford to.” However, they realized that their calling to adopt was not about their comfort, but about living faithfully. Here, they share about their adoption journey:
We watched with wonder as family, friends, and even strangers came alongside us and eased the financial burden. When we found out we were recipients of a Show Hope grant, we found ourselves turning heavenward in gratitude, clearly seeing God’s answer to our wondering about ‘financial readiness.’
We found ourselves on a journey that culminated in Vietnam when our MyLinh Abigail was placed in our arms. This earthly picture in adoption of the lost being found, the fatherless finding a family, is so incredible and has moved so many that we wonder if we have tasted just a bit of what the angels experience as they welcome home one of God’s adopted children!

Thank you both for sharing this sweet picture of your beautiful daughter. I have never thought about what the angels may be thinking of when an one of God’s adopted children enter into heaven. May we always keep our focus heavenward. Show Hope has been such a blessing in our lives too. It is amazing how God puts all this together.
